The
Barnum Museum located in Bridgeport opened in 1883. It was named after the
great showman P.T. Barnum. It is committed to the preservation and
interpretation of Bridgeport industrial and social history as well as an
educational forum. About a mile away Tom Thumbs gravesite can be visited.
Tom Thumb was one of Barnum's most famous performers.
The
Mark Twain House and Museum have about 83,000 visitors from around the world
including school children from around the country. This is a historic site
containing collections that are considered to be national treasures. Visit
this site in Hartford.
The U.S. Navy Submarine Force Museum operated by the U.S. Navy is the home of the first nuclear powered submarine the USS Nautilus. The museum is located on the Thames river in Groton Connecticut.

Mystic Connecticut is well known for its Mystic seaport and the village itself. Ships and village buildings are both from the 19th century.
